Closed- & open-die forging simulation
Forging defects in flight-critical parts are expensive to find and expensive to fix. A forging simulation shows material flow, temperature and strain through every blow or stroke, so preforms, die geometry and process windows can be settled before the first trial.
Before the trial, not after it.
- Will the die fill completely — and where will laps, folds or underfill form?
- Which preform or busting sequence gives the best grain flow at the lowest input weight?
- What press load and energy are needed, and is the press big enough?
- How hot do the dies get, where are the stress peaks, and how long will they last?
- How do billet temperature, transfer time and die preheat change the result?
Results you can act on.
- Material flow, effective strain and strain rate per operation
- Temperature history, including transfer and dwell
- Defect prediction: laps, folds, underfill, flow-through
- Press load–stroke curves and die stress
- Recommended preform geometry and process parameters
Where this matters most.
- Turbine and compressor disks, shafts and blisks (IN718, Waspaloy, Ti alloys)
- Landing-gear and airframe fittings (Ti-6Al-4V, 300M, 7xxx Al)
- Gear blanks and transmission parts for rotorcraft and vehicles
- Shell and projectile bodies, gun-barrel preforms (open-die cogging, radial forging)
