Microstructure simulation
For rotating aero-engine parts, the microstructure is a specification in its own right. Coupling forging and heat-treatment simulation with recrystallization and grain-growth models predicts the grain size field across the part — and shows which step of the process controls it.
Before the trial, not after it.
- What grain size will the finished forging have, and where are the coarse or duplex zones?
- Which forging temperature, strain and dwell keep the part inside the grain-size window?
- How does the α/β morphology of a titanium forging develop through the process?
- Which material data and model calibration are needed for reliable predictions?
Results you can act on.
- Recrystallized fraction and grain size maps
- Phase transformation and phase fraction fields
- Process windows linked to microstructure targets
- Model calibration from flow-stress and metallographic data
Where this matters most.
- Turbine and compressor disks (IN718, Waspaloy)
- Titanium fan and compressor parts, airframe fittings
- Critical steel forgings with grain-size or banding requirements
